American Specialty Aluminum Products, Inc. (ASAP)
founded in 1996 is an OEM of turn key lineal fabrication production
cells, known as the AutoFab Series Cell and built with a modular
fabrication system concept. ASAP saw a need to consolidate multiple
manual processes into a single automated process, while maintaining
a modular design for continued production of about any type of lineal
material to be produced into a CNC quality finished component at
about the price of a single sawing operation. The AutoFab Series
are engineered to ensure high production, precision and repeatability;
and are of particular interest to the aluminum, steel, wood and
plastics manufacturers and fabricators operating in the global ISO-9000
and ISO/TS-16949 (which has superseded QS-9000) quality environments.
The basic AutoFab Series Cell is comprised of
a precision feeder, punch and saw module that can consolidate both
operations into a single automated process. The AutoFab Cell can
have the fabrication capabilities expanded to grow with the complexity
of the finished components by adding other modular fabrication modules
such as notching, dimpling, staking, riveting, drilling, counter
boring, chamfering, reaming, tapping, light machining and inspection
to consolidate multiple operations.
The AutoFab Series can also be used as a normal
sawing operation to ensure the versatility of replacing multiple
operations and many pieces of equipment. While the AutoFab Series
Cell series was originally designed for high production processing
of extruded aluminum profiles, ASAP has engineered cells to produce
products from wood, plastics, and roll formed and tubular steel.
They design components and modules using *Alibre DesignTM parametric
solid modeling software, allowing team
design in detailing and fully listed bill of materials to expedite
both purchasing and production.
ASAP originally developed its core technologies
for the Aluminum Industry and continues to service them. ASAP then
marketed its AutoFab Series Cell to companies in other markets and
has continually increased its knowledge base in applications. This
in turn, has driven it to seek new markets where long lengths of
raw materials can be fabricated into finished components. [*Alibre Design is a trademark of Alibre Inc.]
